History has it, Lovina beach was the first seaside resort to appear in the mid-‘70s. The name “Lovina” was coined by the last King of Buleleng, Anak Agung Panji Tisna. He named this stretch of coast after the English word “love” in 1953. He founded the first hotel in this beach, Tasik Madu Hotel, or “sea of honey” hotel. Police in Bali and Jakarta have made a number of arrests in a scam that has fleeced larges sums of money from the bank accounts of people who used Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) in Bali.
The well-organized and sophisticated criminals reportedly installed an additional fake slot on an ATM Machine together with a small CCTV camera that recorded the password entered by the ATM customer. During 2009, tourism is estimated to have contributed US$2.7 billion in foreign exchange to Bali’s economy, a figure equal to 42% of the total contribution made by the tourism sector to the national economy.

(1/20/2010) Bisnis.com reports that the Ministry of Transportation will soon designate five airports as participants in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) “open skies” program commencing from 2013.
The Director General of Air Transportation, Herry Bakti S. Gumay, revealed that the five airports expected to be included in the program are: Soekarno-Hatta (Cengkareng) in Jakarta, Kuala Namu (Medan, North Sumatra), Ngurah Rai (Denpasar, Bali), Juanda (Surabaya) and Hasanuddin (Makassar, South Sulawesi).

25% of Indonesian National Carrier on Sales as Garuda Restructures its Finances.
The Indonesian government has confirmed that the national airline PT Garuda Indonesia will offer up to 25% of its shares via am initial public offering scheduled for Q2 of 2010.
